Merriott Local History Group New Photos |
| In this section we plan to publish new photos where the subject matter is of local historical significance, anything that provides a link to a yesterday that in many respects is fast disappearing and in danger of being forgotten. | |
As a general guide, the photographs should depict scenes and objects that would have been familiar to the village folk of many years ago, and preferably with no signs of modern-day intrusion such as cars, TV aerials and litter bins! This redundant sluice gate, with its beautiful forged handle and a rack and pinion still capable of being operated, currently wasting away in an industrial wasteland in the village, is a good example. |

If you are handy with a camera and have an eye for the unusual, why not help us create this unique link with the village past? For information about how you can submit a photograph, please see the Contact Information page. Eventually, the photos will be archived and passed to the Somerset Records Office at Taunton and to Crewkerne Museum, for the benefit of those who follow. |
